The New One Minute Manager: Book Review

The New One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson is a self-help book that focuses on the one-minute mantras or management skills that are a must for present-day managers. This book chiefly focuses on the works and requirements of a manager, delving into the readers a few management secrets that might prove helpful and monumental.

The writing style of the author is conversational and relaxed. The story has been presented in a conversations method. It seems that the author is not addressing the readers directly but the message seeps right with the unconscious. I enjoyed this small book with the quirky and didactic writing of the author. The short length of the book prevented the smudging of the lessons. It also helped in ensuring easier recalls and rereadings if the message required reconsideration.

Synopsis:

In this book, there is a man who is willing to improve himself and learn something new. He wants to start a company and thus wants some insights into the managerial ways. In his search for something new and worthy, he stumbled upon this One Minute Manager. This one minute manager is a nickname for a manager who takes one minute out of his schedules at the right times to ensure effective and efficient productivity of the company. Dynamics of the book:

Before venturing into the One-minute manager dynamics, the authors have explained to us the conventional methods of managing prevalent in the contemporary world. They wanted to contrast the traditional methods and the dynamic ones they were going to present. There was no need to connive such a casual tone and retain the stiffness of the formal within. The chapters are divided into small bits of knowledge.

Ensuring the short length of the book, there are no unnecessary details incorporated by the authors. The tips of the one minute manager are divided into three chapters mainly, and each of them deals with a different aspect of the managerial front. It is a helpful study of the managerial post. It felt something stemmed from pure experience and tackling of the problems. Conclusion:

Overall, I liked reading this book. I will give this 3 out of 5 stars. Although most of the recommendations in the book regarding productivity are something you might want to be already aware of, I enjoyed the fact that it all began to make more sense practically once I began reading it. By ensuring that the exercises are completed in just one minute, the authors have persuaded the reader to believe that it is possible to happen. Recommendation:

I will recommend this book to someone who wants to read and imply these mantras in their daily lives. If not for the implication, then this is going to sound like a rant and didactic text at most. So if you are willing to pick this, then be willing to imply them too.
